Entry Requirements
Preliminary Preliminary Study for TKT candidates should have certain English proficiency, such as PET (Preliminary English Test), IELTS score 4, or equivalent to European Language Teaching Reference Standard B1; But TKT does not require candidates to hold a language qualification certificate.

TKT contains five certificates:
1. Background knowledge of language and language teaching
Certificate 2. Planning and Teaching resource utilization
3. Teaching Organization and Learning Process Management
4. Knowledge of English language
5. Integrated teaching and learning of subject content and language
Candidates may sit for each certificate separately and in no order.
Each TKT test contains 80 multiple choice questions and lasts for 80 minutes. TKT focuses on the test of students’ teaching knowledge, rather than the test of students’ English language ability. (Please see the description of the examination contents of each certificate in the table below)
